A Good tutor but work was covered at a more basic level and my daughter did not come away feeling like she had learned and practiced questions beyond things she already understood well. Also the class was mixed with some combined science students which I don't think is ideal.”

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m really pleased to hear you found the tutor good, and I’m sorry the course didn’t fully meet your expectations.
We do try to find a level that works for everyone, and for several of our courses, where we run more than one at the same time, we do group students according to their predicted grades. However, as we only offer one Chemistry Edexcel course at Easter, this did not happen for this course. I understand it may not have felt challenging enough for your daughter. I also want to thank you for raising your concerns during the course, as it meant we could speak with the tutor at the time and make some adjustments.
Your comments about mixing Separate and Combined Science students are very helpful. For this Edexcel course, both groups are taught together because they cover the same core Chemistry topics. In each exam paper, the first four topics are shared, while only the final topic is specific to Separate Science. That means most of the content overlaps, with only a small portion unique to Separate Science. Instead of teaching those parts separately, we have integrated them into the most relevant points within the wider programme so that the material is taught in context

“It might be worth seperating the bits that were for seperate science to be just before lunch or at the end of the day so I could leave during that part instead of waiting for the next bit covering combined science.”
