“These seals deteriorate over time and on removing the old one, didn't look like there was much wrong with it but there obviously was as it leaked. On installing the new one, I'd highly recommend giving the new rubber seal a good coating of silicone grease because it's a lubricant to stop any drag on the plastic pipe passing through and is water repellent adding to the longevity life of the seal. Hand was or fairy liquid isn't the answer although it is too often use. If you're going to do it do it right first time is my philosophy and saves future headaches.”
