“I bought this product as I want to exclusively pump for a bit. Baby is due next week so I've been trying to get some Colostrom out. I've had no joy trying to do this by hand and it was getting a bit depressing seeing nothing happen. As soon as I got this pump I sterilised it and tried it straight away and it worked! Yes I only got a tiny amount of Colostrum out but the 2nd try it happened quicker and more has come out. I then use a syringe to catch the drops. Because I'm not getting much out the tiny amount does sort of seep into the suction cup area around the nipple so you do loose a little bit.
Couple of things about the pump:
It is not quiet or discreet. Which is fine, that's not what I bought it for as I won't be pumping anywhere other than at home. It's quite chunky so no way you could hide that your wearing it and the noise is very noticeable.
It's easy to put together and take apart, so it's easy to clean.
The charge lasts a while. Probably not all day if you're pumping a lot.
If you've not pumped or breastfed before, expect it to hurt at the beginning. But there are different levels of suction you can use so I just started off with the lowest and worked my way up. I use the massage suction first and then the pump mode at the end.
