“Hi Hikers
Just back from Three Capes Walk in Tassie with my trusty DirtSaw Deuce. I had done the research and picked this outdoor personal shovel, but must say I was a very disappointed when I actually had to put said implement to use when nature called.
The 3 Cape National Park authorities recommended digging a 15cm hole. Fat chance of that in amongst the roots and dirt. The flimsy aluminium couldn't cope with the toughness of the ground. Digging 15cm deep was a big ask when you are desperate and in a hurry.
As the description stated, I loved the concept of cutting a perfect cylinder of dirt to remove, fill accordingly and replace and no one would be any wiser.
However, amateur as I am I couldn't manage it. Rest assured I made every effort to cover my tracks leaving no trace.
I am off to the Larapinta trek in the Northern Territory in July. No way is the DirtSaw Deuce coming with me. In my humble opinion, it won't be able to handle the rugged terrain.
I am on the look out for a hand held, battery operated rock excavator. Any alternative suggestions welcome.”
