Hornet OSMO Ultralight Backpacking Tent 1 Person Reviews

4.9 Rating 12 Reviews
Ultralight as promised. I added two additional pegs to help stabilise in windy conditions. Easy to clean and wipe off moisture when packing up in mornings. Zips caught protective flaps several times but to be fair this has occurred with every tent I’ve owned. Waterproof in ‘normal’ rain. Only damp with mist settling inside tent overnight.

More Nemo than Hornet… this is the friendliest lite weight tent ever. Man I’ve coveted this beast from afar before finally taking the plunge. . A+ for easy set up. Fairly sure I made up the bit about attaching the ( bought seperately) ground sheet but hey it still worked. Minimal poles. . literally up in minutes. A+ for surprisingly spacious and certainly light. First outing involved a long day hike and overnight with a very wriggly 12 year old. . and we did NOT roll into each other in the night. Plenty of foot space for bags if you don’t use the vestibule. . but I’m only 5ft4 so. . A+ for waterproof. Hallelujah and praise the gods of Seam-seal. Fairly intense downpour for hours tested the Hornet on the first night and despite my reservations about the very ‘high / open’ fly sheet we were puddle free ( although some ‘touch moisture’ at that more exposed point). A+ on night pee accessibility. Yep two doors. . easy in/ easy out. A+ packing down and storing stuff… all the usual pockets and places to hang things inside ( impressive for a lightweight fella) and actually rolls back neat and tidy after it’s maiden outing. A+ for the rest. I love it. It’s my lines green BFF. I’m calling it Kermit… and turns out, it IS easy being green. Buy it. It will love you back.

The experience was good. Easy to set up and extremely light. As the two person tent is only a little heavier than the one person I recommend you get it rather than the one person.

Tested out my tent in cold wet weather and it performed admirably. Kept me dry all night. Putting up the tent was a bit time consuming initially, but it’ll get easier with practice. Very lightweight to carry up steep hills too!
