“The people at Newleaf were very helpful and I love my new Lumex 600 Sit to Stand lift.Three days after ordering, it was sitting on my kitchen floor ready to be assembled. We hired a local neighbor and in 20 minutes it was assembled.
I weigh in about 550 and this machine handles me easily. The Lumex 600 is well made and is making it possible for me to stay at home instead of having to go to a rest home. I am fairly active when in my powerchair and even drive with my modified van but my knees simply would not support me anymore to get up and out of my chair back to bed at night. In the morning, I can always raise my hospital bed high enough when I get up that I can almost stand and can use my walker a few feet to my powerchair but at night, I could not get out of my chair to go back to bed. The Lumex 600 fills this need and I am very grateful for it.
It took a few days to learn how to handle it and we had to get a wide butt sling to lift me from my chair at night (from WW Grainger, 4 ft x 10 in) as the side belt I got with machine does not work at all for me - it just slips up. We lay the sling flat in the chair before I get into the chair each day. I sit on it all day and at night just pull the handles out from under me and hook them into hooks and short(12 in), medium weight chains we purchased to fit the hooks on the Lumex. Because I am a six foot tall,we don't use the platform or the knee pad, but a shorter person would need them. I stretch my legs out and and place my feet directly on the base of the Lumex to keep me from swaying as the wife pushes the button to lift me up out of my chair. We always lower the hospital bed as low as it will go and with a little effort she will roll me over and place me on the bed. I usually use an old crutch to push on the floor or against the dresser to help her turn me. Going straight forward or backwards is fairly easy but turning is harder and using the the old crutch like a boat oar to turn works well. Once on the bed, we lower the arms and disconnect the hooks. I lay in bed and roll to one side and she pulls the sling out and puts it back in my powerchair ready for the next day.
It is all a very safe and secure procedure and now it just takes a few minutes to get me in bed each night. After a few modifications and a little training time, I am very happy with Newleaf and my Lumex 600.”
