“The leatherman surge is a superb multi-tool, very well-designed and capable. It is heavier than other leatherman tools but robustness is necessary for reliable day-to-day outdoor use, forestry, tree planting and blade sharpening. All the blades and features are extremely well-designed and useful, particular favourites are the external-opening scissors/snippers and the diamond file which I use for keeping green woodworking tools sharp in the field. The knife blades are extremely sharp. The pliers are heavy enough to cut fencing wire and barbed wire (although if I was doing a lot of this I would probably use heavier bolt cutters to spare the leatherman). This is a tradesman/blue-collar tool, for home DIY I would probably use something lighter.”
