“I got this tool in addition to my other Leatherman's because I work outside a lot in Spring/Summer and camp too. It just seemed well-suited to that role.
The Topo version looks great and the tool set is useful for outdoors; includes a fire starter and mini blade sharpener. The can opener is good for food cans but also puncturing used gas cylinders for disposal. The clip is great when you are using the tool and need to stash it for a mo on your belt loop or for clipping onto a webbing loop for longer carry. I think having a combo blade is a good idea here due to the possibility of it being used for cord or rope more often in an outdoor setting, although I do get that these are harder to sharpen well. I always like a bit driver as it just makes the tool more versatile when you need those more unusual bits like Torx.
It's a substantial tool and quite large, though not as robust feeling as the Surge, but better to compromise a bit and lose some weight for its intended use. I like that it came with a useful pouch....they all should.”
