“First, the service was very good and prompt delivery. Next, the quality of the shoe seems terrific and the leather is great, although I can’t see any hint of burgundy in the leather, they’re essentially just brown. Not a problem for me, they don’t seem burgundy in the picture here either, so I wasn’t expecting anything else. My only quality issue is the left boot does seem just ever so slightly paler than the right. Nothing a bit of dubbin won’t fix. Lastly, the fit. For me, this is where this Lanx boot falls down. I wear a 9.5G in a Loake, Grenson and other handmade footwear. I ordered the 9.5, ignoring the advice on the site. These boots are very, very snug in the width. I’m sure they’ll loosen up a little with wear, but if they are a G fitting, it’s not a very generous one. Also, they rub the heck out of my left heel. I can wear a dress sock with these but not a boot sock. I would urge anyone with broad/wide feet to not size down. Also, a size 10 would be far, far too long. Breaking them in is going to take weeks and it’s not going to be much fun.”
