Overall I was quite disappointed with this course. I have minimal practical experience and no prior training with Prince2 or Agile; despite this I was assured by the SPOCE customer service team that the course was suitable for all ability levels and no prior training was necessary. During the first day of my course, the trainer told me this course was not suitable for me, my role and lack of prior training. Only through sheer determination did I manage to get through this course. This matter needs to be addressed urgently in my opinion. You need a good knowledge of both Prince2 and Agile in order to get the most out of this course! There were no additional resources or adapted teaching strategy provided to cater for my ability level, I was expected to keep up with the others in the group and based on their senior experience level as well as prior training this was a challenge. In addition to this I felt that due to my lack of understanding with certain areas of the course, I slowed down the progress of the teaching for others in the group. Lastly the resources provided (pre-course material and study manual) are not nearly as accessible as they could have been in my opinion. The language use, complex sentences and terminology meant I often had to read over parts several times and still could not grasp the meaning. It seems to have been written intentionally pretentious and over inflated with a specific audience in mind. I strongly suggest if you are going to open this course out to differing ability levels that you invest in course trainers, resources and materials that are adaptable to suit the audience ability level. There were many occasions where I felt a simplified diagram or flow chart may have been really useful to aid my understanding and allow me to grasp key aspects of the course content instead of feeling overwhelmed as I did many times. I could have then built upon this understanding throughout the rest of the week. These resources would be a good tool for the trainers to use should it be required. There also needs to be some kind of terminology matrix that summarises all of the common key words/phrases with the translations from the different approaches included. Many of the questions comprised of trying to understand the different terminology varieties between the different approaches. I have rated this acceptable only because I feel my manager has put me on the wrong course; Prince2 would have been more appropriate.
