“The Fish was Great. Unfortunately I had no potatoes, so I decided to add some fresh Tortellini stuffed with Ricotta and spinach and some herbs instead. It was different but delicious. I always enjoy trying some new recipes and looking at yours is always inspiring.”
“This was so easy it made me wonder why I've ever bought frozen fish in the past! I used (heart-healthy) Bisquick since I didn't have self-rising flour. Turned out great! Had a little extra batter so I added some corn and made a few fritters to go along with it!”
Hi MT, thanks for your wonderful review! We're so glad that you found our recipe so easy and that it turned out great for you. Love the idea of using leftover batter for corn fritters!

“Batter did not stick to fish as previously mentioned by another reviewer. Have to say why make so much gherkin sauce for 2. Realise you can store it for just 7 days. Wasteful recipe with the amount of batter as well and wondered why you wouldn’t use/suggest an airfyer for the chips. Far too much peas as well. Disappointing recipe all in all and not so cost effective as suggested.”
Hi Amandaj, we're really sorry about the batter not sticking and have retested the recipe to improve it. This has now been updated, so it should work better next time. Sorry again, and thank you for your feedback.

“Made this, nothing wrong with the recipe very tasty, but what a phaff the batter doesn't stick to the fish and creates such a mess to clean up. I'm a cook, make everything from scratch but unfortunately this time I'll leave it to the Fish n chip shop.”
Hi Linda, we're so sorry that the batter didn't stick – we have retested the recipe and updated the quantities, so it should work better next time. Unfortunately, shallow frying can be a bit messy. We do have other fish & chips recipes that use an air-fryer or the oven, so feel free to have a browse!

“I really confused and i dont no if it makes a difference but on programm you use self rasing and your recipe on hear says plane. I struggled cooking the fish. But the chips and peas are”
“I cooked this for my partner and his family and it was a hit.
The ketchup and peas are delicious.
We are big on flavour.
The chips I struggled with, I couldn't quite get the lemon and garlic and rosemary flavour to come through but I think that may have been technique on my part. My partner certainly enjoyed eating the lemon rinds anyhow.
No matter how much i tried though I couldn't get the batter to stick to the fish. I followed the instructions and coated it in flour first but it just wouldn't take. Any tips here would be appreciated.
I resorted to frying the fish and batter separately and piling the batter on to the fish at the end as i plated up.
Using the gherkin vinegar on the potato chips was genius. Thank you Jamie Oliver. For a household of 6 this cost only £20. £30 cheaper than if we had got it from the take away. And it packed way more flavour.”
Hi Rhianedd, thank you for your feedback. We're really glad it was a hit and a money-saver! So sorry that the batter didn't stick – we have retested the recipe and updated the quantities, so you should have more success next time. Enjoy!

“I can only give this *** not because the recipe was horrible as it wasn't. Although I am an accomplished cook, the mess cooking the fish isn't worth the end result. I was cleaning up for the rest of the night, due to the oily steam covering every surface. I'll save my money and go to the fish shop. Sorry Jamie the first time I wouldn't recommend one of your recipes.”
