Sausage casserole Reviews

I made this last night but with vegan sausage and it was so delicious! I was skeptical about making mashed potato balls but it ended up being so yummy the way they cooked in the beans and tomatoes and I loved how it plated! I had to add some fat (I went with a little butter) to make up for the dry nature of the "sausage" my husband prefers, and I'm in the US so the internet suggested worcestershire sauce when I looked up "HP Sauce" online, but it was so nice to have such a delicious, flavorful meal with pantry staples!

I didn't have tinned mixed beans in the cupboard and so just used 1 tin of black beans which was all I had. I think it would have been better with mixed beans. Good flavour. Didn't use good enough sausages either, just what I had in the freezer. Will try again with better ingredients.

My Japanese Mom loves to watch the “Jamie Channel” in Alaska, so when I visit her, we spend hours sitting and watching his shows. This was one of the recipes he prepared on my last visit, so I decided to give it a try when I got home. I had everything on hand other than the HP sauce, which I substituted with Bulldog sauce (katsu sauce) because it sounded like it may be somewhat similar. The meal was a hit with my husband, who went for seconds. I sent her a photo of the meal and told her I’d make it for her the next time I’m there. I also told her I’d bring one of his cookbooks and we can try others.
