Hi Jamie and all. I want to try this today but I only have thin cut steaks to use, do you think if I cut them into shreds and saute veg etc in my clever chef then throw them in after that (floured) they will be ok? Will put on to slow cooker setting for about 3 hours? Thanks

I love this recipe. It made me a little nervous to not brown the meat at the beginning (I have been making beef stew for 40 years and have always done that) but the texture and flavor were excellent, and the lemon zest, garlic and rosemary at the end is genius.

Question: should I not add water also? I’ve put in the half bottle and the stock but there is so much veg and meat that it looks like it could do with more liquid. Thanks

Hi Pete! You cover the stew in step 5 so the liquid shouldn't evaporate too much, but you could always top it up with a little water if it's looking a bit dry. Enjoy!

I've been making this stew for 15-20 years. It's simple and excellent. The garnish is absolutely essential and elevates the recipe to something special. You can mix in or out pretty much any veg you like. Don't put potatoes in the stew, though, ever! (Personal pet peeve but you do you!)
