You seem to have changed ingredients as shampoo is now a creamy colour we're as before it was clear amber colour Therefore I have been very dissatisfied as it is make my hair greasy and I am now having to wash my hair every day and when you're hair is long and thick this is not very good

Most liquids become thicker and more viscous at cooler temperatures and thinner and less viscous at higher temperatures - it is down to the energy possessed by the individual molecules that make up the liquid - the more energy they have, the more liquid (i.e. less viscous) they are. Adding heat to a product increases the energy it contains. Very low temperatures will cause crystallisation of some of the surfactants (foaming agents) in the shampoo. This can happen at temperatures just above freezing, and will definitely happen at temperatures below freezing. This crystallisation doesn't affect the foaming and cleansing performance of the shampoo but it will result in the normally clear appearance changing to hazy, cloudy or even milky depending on the level of crystallisation. This might also affect the viscosity of the shampoo as it will reduce the concentration level of molecules in suspension in the water-phase which can make the product less viscous. It is possible to ‘melt’ the crystallisation but would mean getting the product up to around 80˚C – this would probably melt the tube so could only be done by decanting the product into a different vessel.

Thank you for your review. Our Scent Free Conditioner does not contain sodium benzoate. Sodium benzoate is a preservative that is derived from Benzoic acid that is widely found in many fruits and berries including cranberries, raspberries and cherries. Benzoic acid is poorly soluble in water making it very difficult to incorporate into most cosmetics, whereas the Sodium salt (i.e. Sodium benzoate) is readily water soluble meaning it can be easily incorporated into cosmetics. After it has been added to the formulation, the pH (acidity level) of the product is adjusted down to between 4.5-5.5 at which level the Sodium benzoate is reduced back to its acid state of Benzoic acid. However, since we add this ingredient in the form of Sodium benzoate, that is what we have to list in the ingredients.
