We do not use the 'star rating' system as this is owned by Boots the Chemist, who licence other companies to use it. The level of UVA protection offered by our products falls between 3 Star and 4 Star on the Boots system.
The 'star-rating' system is not the only way to tell if a product offers protection against UVA rays. The European Cosmetics Association COLIPA have designed a symbol to indicate whether products offer UVA protection in line with the Recommendations of the European Commission. The recommendations of the European Commission states that, the claimed UVA protection factor should be 1/3 of the claimed SPF number, Green People Sun Lotions exceed this.
This symbol, which consists of the letters UVA inside a circle, is used by Green People to confirm that our products offer UVA protection in line with these recommendations.
All of our sun lotions offer Broad Spectrum Protection (both UVA & UVB). A broad-spectrum sunscreen protects you from both. UVA rays can prematurely age your skin, causing wrinkling and age spots. UVB rays can burn your skin.
“This suncream is beautifully moisturising and absorbs well into skin. It's perfect for my toddler's sensitive skin (I've used it since she was a baby) as it's lovely gentle. Only slight downside is it's only factor 30 as I'd be happier if it was 50 for even more protection, especially when on holiday where the sun is stronger.”
