“Firstly I had to stand around with my arms in the air for ages to let it dry. Then by lunchtime my armpits were feeling damp. By mid-afternoon, I was beginning to smell, and by the time I got home I had to go straight and shower. Simply put, it didn't work at all for me. It's a shame, as it's quite expensive and I won't use it again.”
Green People deodorants are just that, they are not designed to be antiperspirants. Antiperspirants work by blocking the pores and therefore the natural process of perspiration which is an essential function of the body. Most of our customers would not want this and it is not achievable by natural means.
If you are using our deodorant for the first time it is normal to sweat more than usual for the first few days as your body is naturally pushing out any toxins which has been previously stopped from being released.
It is very important to sweat out those toxins.
Our deodorants work using a 3 way action:
1. Prebiotics (from sugar Molecule) support the skin’s good natural flora and keep the odour-forming bacteria in check.
2. Zinc Ricinolate (from natural Castor Oil) has sponge-like action that traps odour.
3. Alum (a natural mineral salt) prevents odour-forming bacteria from breeding whilst still allowing the skin to breathe.
We always recommend use after bath or shower on dry armpits, making sure the bottle is shaken before use & note that any natural deodorant free from pore clogging aluminium, alcohol, perfume or aggressive germicides needs to be applied more frequently to completely clean and dry skin.
Our deodorants can be applied to unclean skin, but it obviously may not be as effective as there will be higher levels of bacteria for the active ingredients to deal with.

“I bought this product as I am trying to cut down the amount of chemicals that I use, and also I want to use products that are not tested on animals. I think this product will be ok for most people, but I've always had to use a mens anti perspirant, so unfortunately it did not work effectively enough for me. The fact that it is a deodorant rather than an anti-perspirant is not a problem, its more to do with odour control and confidence. I love Green People's products, but unfortunately I cannot get on with this deodorant. I did not have any trouble with it irritating my skin at all, so in all other aspects it was a great
product.”
Thank you for your review. If you are using our deodorant for the first time it is normal to sweat/smell more than usual for the first week as your body is naturally pushing out any toxins which has been previously stopped from being released. It’s really important to get rid of these toxins and once the ‘detox’ is over, our deodorants are extremely effective at preventing odour.
