Polystichum also known as the soft shield fern are mostly tufted semi-evergreen hardy ferns, with thick roots and beautiful green divided leaves, some cultivars will have beautiful orange & brown leaves, Polystichum like full or part shade and moist soil, a very easy plant to grown and looks great under trees and larger shrubs to add a bit of textures to the darker areas of your garden, Polystichum will grow to around 1.5 meters tall and 1 meter wide no pruning is required only to remove dead or damaged leaves. Polystichum Makinoi are clump forming evergreen fern.Upright habit looking formal with glossy dark green feathery fronds. Grows well in shade to partial shade in moist acidic soil. Height upto 100cm
