Sarcococca is commonly known as Sweet Box, they are beautiful evergreen shrubs with sweetly smelling flowers in winter. There are couple of types sarcococca, but we must admit this is by far the nicest. Sweet Box like fertile moist well drained soil in partial shade or sun if kept moist. They also thrive in pollution and drought tolerent areas so they will make a great scented hedge. They are very similar to box hedging but has the extra bonus of sweet smelling flowers around Christmas time. Sarcococca Confusa is an evergreen shrub which has glossy green leaves and vanilla fragranced white flowers in winter followed by bluish black fruits.
