Kniphofia - red hot poker or sometimes called torch lilies - are clump forming, semi evergreen perennials with green strap like foliage with flowers borne on bare stems with brightly coloured poker like flowers from early summer onwards. Excellent news is that it attracts bees, hummingbirds and butterflies, also rabbits and deer resistant!! When weeding and tidying the pokers be careful as the grass blades can be a little sharp.
