“Good advice on successfully planting bare-root hedging with additional chicken manure pellets and roadside wind-break fencing will hopefully pay dividends later as long as I keep them watered!!!”

“I delayed writing a review in relation to this purchase (50 bare root hawthorn whips delivered at the end of last October) because, although the fulfillment at the time was faultless and the whips arrived in good condition, I felt it was appropriate to see how they fared over their first winter. Planting conditions were not ideal - we have heavy clay soil and they were going into an area full of roots from trees which had been taken down. My tench digging was a bit marginal but I did take care to add compost and to clear weeds away and to top with bark mulch. 44 were planted in this location to make a hedge and the "spare" six were planted in a corner of the garden for back up. I'm delighted to say that 49 of the plants have not only survived but look robustly healthy. A transplant of one of the six spares has replaced the one plant that didn't make it and I'm absolutely thrilled with the success rate. So altogether a very satisfactory purchase and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Grasslands again.”
