Ilex or Holly is a huge family with many different varieties. They can be evergreen shrubs or trees, they differ so much depending on the variety as not all have spikes. Holly make lovely hedges or nice specimens. They are very low maintenance as they are slow growing. Ilex Crenata Caroline minutely scalloped glossy dark green leaves used for topiary.They require clipping to keep shape only a couple of times a year. The perfect alternative to Box if you have had a bad time with blight. Hollies like to be planted in moist well drained soil in sun or shade, ideally they do like a sheltered site.

“We used these Box Holly Ilex Crenata to create a boarder for our front garden. Before looking on Grasslands Nursery website we had searched several local garden centres and found their Ilex plants to be either very small or lacking in volume. Grasslands nursery were extremely helpful and delivered the plants very quickly. The plants themselves are in excellent condition and all are healthy and have great overall mass, with future shoots and leaves already growing from them. An excellent service from a great company, Thank You !”
