Cedrus - cedar - are large evergreen conifers with needle like leaves spiral shoots that have cones that break up and release seeds whilst still attached to the tree. Some species have a spreading habit or an upright habbit. Cedar are very hardy and best used as low maintance tree or a feature conifer. Cedars grow well in moist well drained soil and sun or shade. Cedrus deodara pendula is a fantastic a conical conifer that at the tip of the branch they weep, with greyish green young foliage darkening with age and pinkish brown new shoots.The deodar cedars did originate from western himalaya. Cedrus deodara Feeling Blue is a grafted conifer with pendant blue tinted branched. They are very architectural and look fantastic on their own as a specimen. Grow well in moist well drained soil and sun or shade.
