Cotoneaster are deciduous or evergreen shrubs. They are excellent as a ground cover or planted in a border. They have small oval leaves and saucer-shaped flowers which are white to pink in colour. The flowers are followed by plenty of ornamental berries. Cotoneaster Horizontalis is a dwarf deciduous shrub with dark green glossy leaves that redden in autumn with pink tinged white flowers in summer that are followed by heavy crops of bright red berries. Eventual height 1m. Cotoneaster are very easy to maintain and can take most positions in the garden. They thrive in moderately fertile, well drained soil and can tolerate dry positions. Cotoneaster can be cut back after flowering if required.
