Cornus or dogwood are deciduous shrubs with bright showy stems. They bear lance-shaped mid green leaves which have beautiful autumn colouring and small, star shaped flowers. Flowers are followed by loose cluster of strawberry like berries. Cornus are best planted in a woodland garden or as a specimen tree. Require well-drained, fertile soil and prefer neutral to acidic soil. You can make your soil more acidic by adding ericaceuos compost. Cornus Kousa Cappuccino is a new variety, the new foliage is a bright green darkening to shades of bronze and red. In summer they have green flowers surrounded by creamy white bracts. Height can reach 3m over 10 years
