Taxus Hicksii is a hardier variety than the common taxus baccatta. It does extremely well in cold and exposed areas. It has pointed dark green foliage that in autumn has a beautiful golden tint. Adding a little colour. If you have a smaller garden and still want a yew hedge this is the one for you. This one fruits well if you add a few Hillii among them, then you have the same compact growth as well as plenty of red berries for the birds. The fruit is poisonous, so if you have worries about them being eaten then just plant the Hillii form.
