Thuja - cedar - are fast growing, evergreen conifers, they have compact yellowish green foliage that when crushed smells heavenly of pineapple. They respond very well to being trimmed and make a lovely hedge, not as quick growing as the leylandii and can be trimmed hard. To plant thujas they like pretty much all soils but don't like to sit wet. Thuja plicata Gelderland beautiful conifer, foliage when crushed smells of pineapple, dark green foliage that has red tinges for winter.
