Fargesia is also known as the Chinese fountain bamboo - they are slower growing than the normal phyllostachys but are still clump forming, they are also slightly dwarf as they only reach between 2 and 4m. Forms a tight clump of fine canes that emerge green, turn crimson then yellow as they age. A fantastic new form of this non evasive bamboo.H.1.5m. To grow fountain bamboo the like fertile, moisture retentive soil in sun or partial shade and shelter from cold drying winds, if planting in pots then remember to feed and water. To care for the fargesias they trim off any dead, damaged or unwanted branches.
