Crataegus - common hawthorn - is perfect for a hedge with its glossy, deeply lobed leaves and flat sprays of cream flowers, followed by dark red berries in autumn, which attracts the wildlife. Hawthorn is prickly so a good defence hedge against unwanted visitors. Crataegus are very easy to grow and can withstand towns, coastal and exposed gardens.

“Excellent service from placing order online to delivery. The plants appear to be in good shape and have been planted out in accordance with instructions provided. The review is 4 stars instead of 5 as there were 24 plants instead of the 25 ordered. Would definitely use Grasslands again.”

“Just finished planting my hedge and the bare-root hawthorns were excellent. The roots are well developed; the stems are strong and there are plenty of buds.
