Thuja - cedar - are fast growing, evergreen conifers, they have compact yellowish green foliage that when crushed smells heavenly of pineapple. They respond very well to being trimmed and make a lovely hedge, not as quick growing as the leylandii and can be trimmed hard. To plant thujas they like pretty much all soils but don't like to sit wet. Thuja Plicata Martin Big bushy, field grown specimens. Martin is a darker green form of thuja. Plant 2 per metre for an instant screen or 1 per metre and wait a season or so.
