We started at Mua Caves, where our group climbed the 486 steps to see the Dragon Mountain viewpoint. The effort melted away once we saw those vast rice fields and karst cliffs. Then we visited the centuries-old Hoa Lu Citadel where our guide Nhi told stories that made history come alive. After a hearty lunch, we boarded a small boat at Trang An and drifted through grottoes with hanging stalactites, green waters, and jungle-covered rocks.
