“If you want to experience the beautiful and peaceful way the Hindu Balinese live, then this is the tour for you! Our driver, who was amazing, took us to the village, where we were greeted by Aji, our host for the day. We were treated to Indonesian treats and coffee. Aji explained everything about the complex his family lives in, how it all works, and how it is set up according to Hindu requirements. We met his mom and grandma, and his mom made us the baskets for canang sari, which are the traditional offering baskets. Aji described what each flower meant and the specific order they go in as we made our own. It was fascinating. He also took us to the village cremation plot and told us about the process of bringing the ashes back to the earth. Then, it was lunch at a traditional warung – absolutely delicious food (you get to choose what you want from the menu, included in the price of the tour). After this, we thought it couldn’t get any better, yet it did. It was the cleansing and purification ceremony, central to the Hindu religion. Be prepared to get wet and wear traditional dress (provided). Just let yourself go, enjoy the magical process, and scream in the waterfall! Aji explained everything every step of the way. Aji was the most awesome host—so attentive and anticipating things before we even knew we needed them. He also went out of his way to take photos and videos on our phone. Just do it! We cannot thank Aji enough for all the effort he and his family went to, to make this an experience you must do at least once in your life! Suksma Aji! – Shelley and Stan”
