Barberries are red berries produced by a spiny thorny shrub native to Europe, Asia and Africa. Barberries were used for centuries in traditional medicine to relieve a number of ailments. Our barberries have been carefully dried at low temperatures to protect their precious vitamins and minerals. Organic Raw Barberries are highly nutritious and are an excellent source of Vitamin C.
Barberries are commonly used in Middle Eastern cuisine. They are added to chicken stews and basmati dishes to give a sour bomb of flavour. If you like eye tingling sour fruits then they can also be enjoyed straight out of the bag or in porridge and muesli.
