Organic Spelt Flakes are perfect for muesli or granola bars!
Organic Spelt Flakes are made from spelt berries which are an ancient cereal grain closely related to wheat. Spelt is considered ancient because it was first cultivated 9000 years ago. The grain is lightly toasted and then rolled in a press that flattens the grains into flakes that can be easily used in foods and recipes.

Many people prefer Spelt to 'modern' wheat because its DNA has not been changed by farming methods and it has a more extensive nutritional profile.  It has a nuttier taste than milder tasting wheat which makes it popular with alternative bakers trying new grain combinations.

Some people who cannot tolerate wheat find spelt does not cause them problems because the gluten is water soluble and more easily broken down.  Spelt flakes can be used in a wide range of recipes and make a great addition when baking.

We also stock a wide range of other organic cereal flakes.
