Organic Rye Grain is the perfect starting point for delicious homemade bread.
Organic Rye grain is closely related to wheat and barley.  It is considered ancient because it was first cultivated in 1800 BC.

Many people prefer rye to wheat because its DNA has not been changed by farming methods and it has a more extensive nutritional profile.  Rye grain has a deeper, stronger taste than milder tasting wheat.  This makes it popular with alternative bakers trying new grain combinations.

If you like getting creative rye grain can be sprouted, dried and then ground down to produce nutrient rich 'sprouted rye flour'.  It can then be used in a wide range of recipes and makes a great nutritious addition to your baking.

We also stock a wide range of other organic ancient grains.

“Very nice organic rye grain. This rye grain can be freshly milled at home using a grain grinder mill to make fresh wholegrain rye flour wich you can add to bread dough and other things to make them taste even better. You can also separate the flour from the bran and use the flour for baking, and the bran can be used in all kinds of goods. I like to use bran instead of breadcrumbs on things like chicken or pork. Apart from all these tasty ways of using this organic rye grain, this grain can be freshly milled and added to sourdough, turning your sourdough in to a really tasty and bubbly sourdough wich makes dough grow well without having to add yeast. Very high quality organic rye grain, highly recommended.”

“A combination of rye grain and cracked grain and flour can be made out of this to use in novel bread-making. Just grind the rye grain for a suitable time to get the consistency you need. But it tastes great. Very good for the digestion!”
