“Worked after three pulls and ticked over nicely once warmed up without any manual adjustment. The first thing to do is remove the exhaust cover held on by three bolts and then the air cover and filter. This exposes the two nuts on the end of the two through studs that hold the carb in place. The fiddly bits were unhooking the throttle spring (I used a small set of locking tweezers to twist it off the lever on the carb) and unhooking the throttle rod from the carb without having to remove the fuel tank. This was accomplished by unthreading the two through studs and turning the carb instead of the throttle rod! To unscrew the studs I tried using a couple of stainless steel lock nuts on each stud but they were too smooth and slippery on the male threads. In the end I used a couple of old rusty nuts on each stud which worked a treat although I even had to tighten those tighter than I would have liked. I had ordered a couple of new paper gaskets (part no H1S94 - not included with the carb) although in my case I could probably have got away with using the old ones. Re-fitting was the reverse of removal starting with connecting the throttle rod and spring in that order! For less confident DIY mechanics a couple of pictures taken of both ends of the throttle linkage may go a long way. . .”
