Good saw but can't lock it in position as the handle at the back just goes round and round and doesn't tighten for cutting at different angles.

Value for money? Seem to be many out there cheaper only obvious difference seems to be colour otherwise seems like much else out there generic parts put together the same way. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Still very pleased overall as it gets the job done.

I bought this to be able to cut materials to accurately to length and mitre joints in a variety of materials. Despite trying very hard to adjust the blade accurately I found it almost impossible to produce accurate mitres for a picture frame. Also when trying to cut accurate depth groove cuts, there is a bit of flex in the arm and therefore the depth of cut is not uniform. Also there is not quite enough travel on the arm when the depth is set not to cut right through therefore grooves cannot be cut across a board unless an extra board is positioned against the fence. The machine produces good quality cuts in terms of surface finish even though not as perhaps as accurate as they could be. It would be better for instance if the bevel function was pre indexed to various angles. The laser line guide is useful on straight cuts but not so accurate on bevels. The hold down clamp on mine had a cross threaded screw that was replaced very quickly when I contacted the UK distributors. Overall I am glad I bought the machine as it is good value for the money I paid. Would I recommend it? Yes with the one or two limitations mentioned above.

I am really impressed by this saw, the blade is exceptionally good, I was hoping to use it for accurate work as well as rough first fix but a couple of things have prevented this. The turntable is slightly lower than the base, this is no problem if the workpiece spans the base but if the cut is near the end of the stock the blade pushes on the piece and tilts it, the clamp helps stop this but when trenching or 1/2 lapping the outcome is variable. I found the adjustment of the laser, fence and blade angles as supplied to be of an accurate order although I would have liked the fence to be higher and have facilities to fit sacrificial sub fences but have not needed these to be present with the work I am engaged with presently. The sliding fence part is about 7 thousandths of an inch stepped back, no great problem, I can adjust with tape if I find it to matter. Most users of mitre saws complain about the plume of sawdust, this is a hot-spot of discussion and I am trying different methods to reduce the output on mine, I will let you know if I have success but my time is limited to work with this. I have though found that a zero gap insert helps with accuracy when lining up to cut, OK if not bevel cutting and I think it could be offered as an option. Less small slivers to fish out is a bonus! Pity the insert is shaped but a flushing router bit can help there. I would and have recommended this saw and its sister to fellow diy enthusiasts and colleagues, it has a lot of merits, features and capabilities. I am thoroughly impressed by the make, I will remain loyal to Evolution, my next purchases will be in their camp, probably a tablesaw when my present one (not a good make) gives up or I just get fed up putting up with its substandard performance. WELL DONE EVOLUTION. By the way I was also impressed with another of your designs, again a saw JCB but the aftersale support and spares service did not impress, NOT your fault I know and I hope their shortfalls do not rub off on what I see is your excellent services. Yours faithfully John
