“I know this seems an odd thing to say about a Fender, but the Modern Player Tele plus is surprisingly good. I've owned and played many Fenders, Gibsons and other top name guitars, and I always thought of myself as more of a Strat man. But this Tele has converted me. First - it arrived perfectly set up. Bridge, nut, action and intonation were all perfect. Second - it's a lot of guitar for the money. If I hadn't known, I would have expected the price to be a couple of hundred higher. The finish is wonderful, the maple neck feels just like those on the best Strats I've ever owned, and the slightly fatter frets only increase the playability. I wasn't sure if a pine body would have the sustain and tonal qualities of ash or alder. But, believe me, it does. Third - the pickups give wider and more pleasing possibilities than your average Strat or Tele. The clever addition of a humbucking bridge pick-up that includes a coil tap, gives pretty well any tone you might require from an electric guitar. I've hardly put it down since I got it, and I can't stop smiling.”
