“Failed to see why they were so expensive, they fitted the same as a pair from decathlon and had a much smaller pad that was nowhere near the sit bones.”
If the pad is not near your sit bones it sounds like these don't fit properly. Pad size is pretty much standard because sit bones are pretty much standard and ultimately the main job of a pad is to support the sit bones and then the soft tissue area - larger pads don't mean better pads, indeed sometimes larger pads can be counterproductive. The pad we use is a good quality pad which gets great feedback but the shorts need to fit properly or the pad won't be in the correct position..
The shorts are more expensive than Decathlon because our gear is ethically made in the EU using top quality fabrics - we don't manufacture in the Far East and in addition we are a small business and therefore can't negotiate the same volume discounts that larger companies can. We charge a fair price based on what we have to pay our factories - who in turn pay their adult staff, fair wages and dispose of waste products ethically.
Some other things which also differentiate us from Decathlon:
We are a socially responsible business which means that we don't just sell cycle wear, we have a vested interest in the well being of our community and have nurtured a thriving and empowered following on social media, who inspire and support each other to ride bikes and enjoy a healthier and happier lifestyle.
We have established a network of FLAB Social ride groups across the UK which encourage cyclists of all abilities to regularly come together and ride.
We are committed to publicly challenging the fat phobic society that we live in and changing the Fit/Fat rhetoric so that society begins to shed it's misconceptions about larger sized people and what they can and do achieve.
All cycling shorts aren't the same and all cycle wear brands aren't the same - sometimes you need to look at the details to see the difference.
“I purchases a pair of these in XL. It said it fitted my waistline. When they arrived I put them on and they were really tight. Also, when I sat down on my bike, the padding did not cover anywhere near my sit bones. I cannot use these. And if I lose weight and they fit, I can just grab a cheap pair from pearl izum or off of amazon. Really disappointed as these were going to let me ride my bike this spring in comfort. I thought these were made for big guys like myself but they fit just like a $20 chinese knockoff from amazon.”
Hi Matt
Sorry that you are not happy with the shorts. The padding won't fit if the shorts are the wrong size as these clearly are.
Our size guide is a guide and the reason we suggest people contact us with their acurate measurements and height is so that we can give further advice about sizing.
Getting correctly fitting bib shorts is never easy because your waist, bum and leg size as well as height all affect the overall fit and if we included this information it would make for a very complicated size guide.
If the shorts aren't a good fit and still have labels intact and haven't been worn then they can be returned for a refund or an exchange.
