“Excellent bit of kit, this. I know they don't do much on MX-5s but I've always been of the opinion that every little helps - and this brace has a lot of things going for it. Firstly, it's a single piece, so no pivot points to reduce its effectiveness. Secondly, although it's made of high strength steel, it weighs barely more than my old lightweight aluminium Carbing bar. Thirdly, and most importantly for me, the design is angled back much closer to the firewall than any other brace of this type I've seen - and this means it comfortably clears the offset Jenvey ITB pod filter. Hurrah. I also think it's quite clever in the way it handles forces - the bar joins the plates at a point that's actually folded back over the end of the strut towers, rather than on the flat portion surrounding the top mount. Have no technical knowledge to back this up, but suspect this makes it stronger. The only way it could be better would be if it had a brake master cylinder built-in.”
