“I bought this kit as my Mk1 is turbo'd and ever since the conversion I had been battling engine temps on trackday. I'm trying my best to avoid bonnet vents so I thought this was worth a go especially as it's arguably a worthwhile mod in its own right. The kit comes with everything you need apart from a thermostat so if you think you one needs replacing, now is a good time to purchase a new one. I had recently replaced the 'stat with a Gates one (from Bofi, naturally) so simply re-used that. I'll be frank, the instructions from SkidNation aren't the best in my opinion and fitting the kit was quite a the faff, although parts of the issue were with my car and not the kit but my advice is if you're going to fit it yourself, allow yourself more time and be patient as some parts of the install are tedious. Technically speaking, this is not a difficult install, it can just be fiddly and time consuming. Bottom line - has it been worth it? Well, I've only done one trackday since and despite being summer in the UK it wasn't that hot a day BUT the engine temperatures were stable and they remained lowered compared to the trackday I did in Feb which was on a colder day, therefore I'd say so far it's been a success! TL,DR: Fiddly to fit, instructions could be better, allow more time, so far, worthwhile mod, would recommend.”
