“One of the better located car parks at Edinburgh Airport, with reasonably sized spaces within a secure environment. However, the recent changes at the site do not appear to have been communicated to anyone, including booking agents and some of the staff. There is no signage on arrival that is visible, you must chose Carpark 1 or Carpark 2. It seems most bookings are serviced at Carpark 2, but with no attendant outside to deal with the growing queue of customers, if you drive up to the barrier to ring the intercom, you are shortly told that you should be in Carpark 2. You then have to reverse out into traffic and complete the tight turn into the carpark opposite. The voice on the intercom suggested I should have known better than to turn into Carpark 1, but having read my booking three times and looked at the signage, I still can’t see where I am meant to absorb this knowledge from.
Shuttle bus to the airport is busy, particularly from the hotel onwards, but short and with a pleasant driver.
Trip back from the airport was complicated by there being a tourist coach parked in the designated NCP stance at the terminal. I phoned NCP, per the instructions on the signage and the booking, to be told that I was in the correct place and that the bus ran continuously. My explanation that the place was no longer usable due to being blocked by a coach was not listened to or communicated to the driver, who was at times having to pick up passengers off-stand from the middle of the concourse.
The change of using Carpark 2 was again evident, by the fact that the driver took us to the wrong carpark. He explained there had been a recent change, he apologised and he quickly returned us to where we need to be.
Summary: saved a few pounds, got decent parking, but the communication from NCP staff on the ground is terrible unless you have mind-reading abilities. Not worth it”
