My son has Down's Syndrome and isn't ready for a pedal bike. We had been using one with the pedals removed but it was quite heavy and he had outgrown it. We thought this would be perfect for him and last a long time as the chain and pedals can be added when he is ready. He loves his new bike! It is light, speedy and easy for him to handle. The addition of the foot rest means he can put his feet up when he is gliding and get used to the position they would be in if he were pedaling. The brakes are a little stiff - hopefully they will loosen up over time - and he doesn't have the hand strength to squeeze them all the way, yet. Overall, we are very pleased with his bike!
