Finally pulled the trigger on my purchase of the ECM Technika Profi V after months..or was it years..of deliberation. My near 20 year old Gaggia Classic had been a great machine but the Technika is obviously next level. Beautiful build and finishing and I ended up with the Olive Wood accent version which is simply stunning. Like others, I was torn between going for the dual boiler Synchronika or the HX Technika. As I’m not churning out coffee after coffee the HX is more than adequate for my needs and although the added direct control of the brew temperature is absent, there is still way more control via the steam boiler than I am ever likely to need. Setting at 124c provides plenty of steam and a consistent stable temp for the espresso roast I use most regularly. Once I’d changed the burrs on my old workhorse grinder and dialled in the grind it was espresso heaven! There were one or two queries following delivery of the machine (which was fast) but I found Paul and Jayne were able to sort those teething problems out super quick….hugely reassuring to have such excellent customer service with such a substantial inverstment.
