“No order, no book, no response to e-mails. I am with the group who thinks this may be a scam or at least very poor site”

“Ordered on 8 December. The 'account' they set up for me was empty so unable to verify or track my order. Sent email on 14 Dec. No response. Sent email today after reading their stated promise of a response within an hour. No response. I don't even have a way to cancel the order. What to do?!!”

“Placed order 9 days ago for a book. Online account created (by them) has never showed that I have an order outstanding. No phone number or any way of contacting them apart from an email form on the website and the email address of the order acknowledgement. Emails (about 8 in the last 2 days) are not acknowledged and go unanswered. This company deserve zero stars. I wish I had researched Smyths Books before dealing with these time wasters.”

“After placing an order I received email confirmation. However no delivery and whenI log on to my account on their website it shows no order. I have tried contacting via email and their website cotact us page but I get no reply. There appears to be no phone number so I would advise that nobody should order from acompany with no means of contact by phone. Prices seem cheap bvut please avoid this company as it seems many others have similar problems with them.”

“Ordered a book Saturday, not arrived by following Friday, can't log in as the site won't accept my email address, even though I received an auto response from them at that address on one occasion. Have sent two messages via web enquiry form, (ignored) and one email (also ignored), hence one or rather zero stars. Also there doesn't seem to be a phone number that I can find, why?”

“Extremely poor customer service. My first order was cancelled for no apparent reason. My email was replied to and I was advised to order again which I did recieving a confirmation email to confirm. Since then no books, the website states i have made no orders and at least 10 emails to customer services have gone un answered. ( unfortunately i could not find a telephone number). I have now given up and ordered through Amazon - more expensive but at least i can reply on their service !”

“This must be a scam! Do not use!!! Ordered a book for next day delivery and received an order confirmation. Then silence. No book and no reply to any of my emails or calls. I have cancelled my card as a precaution as I suspect this is a scam just to get peoples personal details. I don't believe the 5 star reviews on this site especially as other sites are predominantly one star warnings that this is a scam - wish I'd seen them before I ordered.”

“As with all the other reviews at 1 star, I placed an order, was told there were issues with payment, followed quickly by another email saying it had failed pre-posting checks due to damage... So which is it!?! Absolutely no response from support or sales email addresses and the contact mobile number is always on answerphone... SCREAMS SCAM to me, cancelling bank cards just in case it is as much of a scam as others are suggesting! Guessing I won't be getting a refund won't be using this site again!”

“Shocking service all round really, I received an email advising that my order had been cancelled, because of one of a few potential reasons 1. my credit card failed, 2. there was insufficient stock...fast forward two weeks and I receive a second email advising that the stock had been delivered in to fulfill (my now cancelled?) order was damaged and that if I would like I could log in to my account to cancel the order. I've logged into my account to cancel the order and it's showing no order history. I have since contacted the customer service team three times asking them to confirm that the order has been cancelled and no refund issued and have (this far) received no response. First and last 'shopping' experience with Smyths books.”

“FAKE AND A SCAM. Avoid this website at all costs, I ordered the same book twice and both times I received an email saying the order had been cancelled. Have emailed twice and not have any replies. Have had to cancel my cards.”

“Struggling to believe site is genuine, A suspicious amount of recent 5 star reviews. My experience was an order placed, and account showing no order activity. No answer to contact forms or emails and no book. As one reviewer has suggested would seem likely they are collecting card details and providing no actual service Don’t risk”

“DO NOT USE!!!! The 5* reviews are CLEARLY false and paid for by the company, because this stupid company are not legitimate. I have tried ordering a book now 5 times and the order has been cancelled each time. I am now having to cancel and re-issue my cards, because they are must be harvesting the card information. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! No response to emails either!”

“Placed an order for a book for my Daughter for Christmas. Received an email 6 days later saying the order was cancelled with no explanation as to why. Then received another email about a month later saying they have just found out that my order was damaged and did I want to wait until it was back in stock. Not sure what this company is playing at but they seem about as organised as a blond Shepard herding cats. Maybe I'll go to Waterstones next time.”

“Can't give 0 stars - unfortunately. Have ordered book on what looked like a genuine web site, and despite numerous emails (to which I have received no response) have no idea when (or if) it will be delivered. Like everyone else, deeply regret using this company and would urge everyone to avoid.”
