As a pharmacist, for some time there have been soft lozenges to aid saliva production. They worked quite well, but the taste wasn't particularly pleasant. This product sounds like a good idea but is fiddly to use and not sufficiently advantageous to justify their use. The taste is similarly not wonderful which is a pity because there is a gap in the market.
Personally, I would never suggest leaving an object in the mouth overnight. It could become detached and enter the trachea which would be dangerous.
