I retrofitted my old (early 1990's) Bianchi Volpe (hybrid) with a Swytch kit about 4 months ago. It was easy to install - took maybe an hour? 250 miles city riding so far and I love it. My knees aren't what they used to be, and I'd mostly stopped biking around town due to aches and pains & the abundance of hills. I wanted something that would let me keep using my beloved old bike, but provide enough kick to take the curse off the hills around me. Initially concerned that the Swytch would be under-powered (250W motor) & a front hub motor, which seemed less beefy than the other options out there. What I found is that this actually works perfectly well - gives me all the boost I need to get up hills with a normal amount of peddling, and let me do straight runs at near top speed. Looking back on it I spent way too much obsessing over which wattage motor / type drive to use. This has been a perfect solution. Being able to take the battery with me is also very nice - one less thing to worry about being stolen. The various components that get installed on the bike feel very solid & well made. If you're looking for something simple, light weight, relatively inexpensive, well made, and that will give you enough power to help push you along at a level that feels like biking when you were 20 years younger this is a great option. I added the throttle to my order. It's been worth it - allows me to power up when I'm fiddling with toe clips, or other odd moments when I need to keep moving without peddling.
