Zephyr Earth GTX Mid - Started splitting at the seams around the toe area within weeks of purchase, the gore-tex began to crack and split after about 12 months. I decided to contact Lowa regarding the warranty around 18 months after purchase in case any further defects arose. However, was informed that seam defects don't come under warranty, quote; "as it’s not a manufacturing defect, but rather classed as wear and tear – the boots have simply been used to the max, have probably covered thousands of miles, and have now reached the end of their useable life." Don't expect them to last very long, 3 months of fair usage at max, before defects begin to appear which won't be covered under warranty, rendering them no longer water-proof and then it's pot-luck as to how long before beginning to fall apart. In regards to their performance, they aren't particularly comfortable out-of-the-box, have a very hard sole, tend to pinch upper foot and the toes (especially the little toe I find) and have very poor grip, especially on any wet surface. Bits of the sole seem to chip off as well, and after around 18 months use the sole has now worn through. Positives: they feel very light on the foot with good laces and a very supportive upper section around the ankle. Ideal for light use if you only want to use them occasionally to walk the dog or for a couple of planned expeditions, not a hiker's boot though.
