I came across use-IP whilst searching for a Mac compatible camera - all Hikvision. After a lot of experimentation with my D-Link indoor camera and reading of manuals (++ for use_IP) I chose a Vivotek camera. I have since discovered that getting the best out of security cameras is a dark art requiring much experimentation and many magic words. The Vivotek FD836B-HVF2 is OK (I use it with a Synology NAS SurveillanceStation) but tricky to get the best out of the full 1024p resolution. For my purposes I might have been better off sticking to 720p resolution.
