The beam I got as a mantle is a beautiful piece of oak wood properly aged and well finished. The company is easy to deal with and they sent the item extremely well packaged and the courier was careful with the item so no damage. The only reason not to give full marks was that the wood has a crack (and I fully realise that cracks are to be expected and are indeed a feature) however this crack is right on the corner and edge of the beam and has opened further since installing so I am keeping an eye on it and hoping it doesn’t get worse. The beam is guaranteed for life so I feel confident to do this.
