The course itself was very comprehensive with good examples and demonstrations. I especially like the tutor Joe from the first unit about Grammar. However, I did experience a number of problems. The assessments caused me several issues. Firstly, the examples chosen for questions were often not taken from explicit teaching in the course which made it hard to find appropriate answers. Secondly, I had problems with the assessor. Often I felt he marked me unfairly based on my responses, in the sense that he would fail for me when my answers were technically correct. There was also one occasion where he failed me, and it was only when I questioned why that he responded to say that my answer was in fact correct after all, despite me not having amended anything. I also felt that the course focused too much on teaching methodologies in a general sense, rather than being specific to the teaching of English. The main part of the course was the second unit which took up a lot of my time and which I felt was mostly unnecessary for me as I already have teaching experience and knowledge. I completed the course to learn more about teaching English as a foreign language, not just about how to teach in general.
